Carnage at Fairfax
Mark Day is weeping for the axed legions of Fairfax. Some 550 editors, hangers on, and even a few journos.
In my experience no journo is as blinkered and lazy as a Fairfax journo. There are of course honourable exceptions to this.
But The Age and the SMH break very few investigative stories, so it’s not as if they’re losing much with these cuts.
As interesting is the long anticipated beheading of Andrew Jaspan today. There are reports that Jaspan might have pulled the pin when asked to ‘maintain quality” with a reduced staff.
The real question is whether anyone outside of media will know or care?
